The Grok chatbot account owned by Musk was temporarily banned on the X platform.
Jin10 reported on August 12 that on Monday afternoon local time, the official X account of Grok, the artificial intelligence chatbot owned by Elon Musk, encountered a temporary ban. The account was restored a few minutes after the ban. Regarding the reason for the ban, Grok provided a series of contradictory explanations, including firmly asserting that "the image is fabricated" when replying to a user-provided screenshot of the ban, stating that "the account has been unbanned and is functioning normally"; in an English reply, it acknowledged the ban, claiming the reason was "involving anti-Semitic hate speech"; while another English reply stated that "the ban was due to pointing out the genocide carried out by Israel and the United States in Gaza." After the incident, Musk posted a comment mocking, "We really do often shoot ourselves in the foot!" He later referred to Grok's chaotic explanations as a "stupid mistake," indicating that the chatbot was actually unclear about the reason for the ban.
